Frye Art Museum's gallery conversations offer Seattle another way to look
Always-free gallery admission and a regular guided conversation make a focused First Hill art visit easy to plan.

Looking at art with another person can reveal how much each viewer notices differently. Frye Art Museum's free Friday gallery conversations offer a structured way to try that, creating space for discussion rather than requiring visitors to arrive with an expert interpretation.
The museum is at 704 Terry Avenue on First Hill. Gallery admission is always free. Current hours are Wednesday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., with Thursday opening extended to 8 p.m. and Monday–Tuesday closures. Check holiday hours, the current exhibition list and nearby construction notices before travelling.

The visitor page currently lists forty-five-minute guided gallery conversations on Fridays at 1 p.m., meeting in the Rotunda. Organized groups of six or more should notify the museum ahead; private tours follow a separate paid booking process. Confirm the current program listing if the conversation is the main reason for your visit.
A self-guided visit can use the museum's free Bloomberg Connects guide, including audio from artists and curators. Bring headphones and allow the work itself some attention before starting the commentary. Choose a few objects to revisit after hearing another perspective. A short gallery visit can leave you with a better question, even when it does not end with a single agreed meaning.
